This shelter has no paid employees to care for our furry residents, it is solely run by volunteers.
We promote the humane treatment of all animals, educate the children about the responsibilities
of pet care and mostly about spaying and neutering to control the overpopulation of companion
animals.
We have rescued many animals from neglect, physical abuse, or abandonment. The most common
excuse for abandonment is pregnancy, can't afford the cost to spay, and the upkeep of the
unwanted litter.
Thus far 95% of the cost to run our shelter, feed for our furry residents and to get them vet treated
has been out of pocket. We are a 501(c)3 a NON-PROFIT group. We can not take in pets as long
as there are no funds to care for them.
Cause For Paws urges the community to help by donating your time, your
scrap aluminum, aluminum cans, and even a small amounts of your pocket change is appreciated.
Any generous donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the
federal tax code.
We are one step closer to achieving our goal. We have made low cost spay / neuter vouchers
available to help all those who can not afford the high cost of sterilizing their pets. We are
providing people with the ability to become the responsible pet owners they want to be.
We also hope to one day have a mobile spay / neuter unit that will come to a location near
you. If you can't bring the pet to the vet, we want to bring the vet to you ( for low cost spays and
neuters only.
For information about a spay /neuter voucher or other low cost spaying / neutering now available
for cats phone 931-722-3077, leave your name and telephone number we will get back to you.

When CAUSE For PAWS was organized in 1999, our first and foremost purpose is to protect the
welfare of abused, neglected, and abandoned animals.
Our mission is to preserve and enhance the quality of life in the animals of Wayne County and
surrounding areas through vetting and adoptions, to promote as well as make available low cost
spaying and neutering to the public, and finally to educate this and the next generation of animal
owners of the humane treatment of all animals

C.A.U.S.E. For P.A.W.S. , Inc is a very small animal
shelter / rescue located in a rural area in Wayne County
the second largest county area wise in Tennessee. The
Waynesboro City pound has recently closed and is no
longer picking up animals, there is no shelter run by the
county. Though shelters in surrounding counties have
assisted us on many occasions , Cause For Paws is the
only shelter /rescue within the county. It is situated on
private property, so for insurance purposes we do not
permit visitors to come and view our furry residents but
we do however arrange for you to meet the pet you are
interested in adopting after your online application has
been approved.
The one goal we are most determined to achieve is to reduce the overpopulation of companion
animals to a point WHEN WE WILL NOT NEED TO SHELTER AND FIND HOMES FOR UNWANTED
PETS, AND UNPLANNED LITTERS
Many communities across the country have been very successful in reducing the number of
unwanted pets by providing a low cost spay/neuter program and educating the public to prevent
unwanted litters. We can also make it work in Wayne County.
