You and I bonded almost the first day you came home
It was me you listened to and to me alone
No matter where I'd walk you weren't far behind You were my baby and I was
yours in kind

We knew each other well there was no question of that
You seemed to know when I was searching for my keys, bag or hat
When I was about to leave I'd tell you goodbye
You turned and walked away with a deep sigh

No sooner was I out the door when you tore paper bags
Went to the closet and tossed all the rags
Got into minor mischief cause you had nothing else to do
Cause I wasn't there talking or fussing over you

You howled I love you and sang in tune with our bird
Or you whispered on signal so not to be heard
But then you grew older and ill you became
When I helped you over the ridge it was never the same

You are now gone and no longer following behind
You were the best friend I ever did find
In my life you were a very big part
With your passing you'll remain in my heart

FUREVER
Best Friends
