A Place To Call Home
From many places I've been driven,
not so much as a morsel given.
Chased from shelters in the pouring rain,
starving, exhausted, and in so much pain.
Praying for a place to rest my head,
for in the morning I may be dead.
Run down by a car or shot by a gun,
to die alone for I had no one.
Every day I had to cope,
until now with new found hope.
With your generous contribution,
comes the beginning of a resolution.
From my heart I give a big THANK YOU
for supporting Cause For Paws Rescue

Heart Felt Poems and Stories
Halfway Home
By the kennel door I'd stand
with a dog biscuit held tight in my hand.
She huddled close to her litter mate so full of fear
as I approached her obviously too near
Her eyes full of sorrow she glanced back at me
Curious to know how I would be
As a companion an owner and some one who will care,
or like her former owner who'd left her somewhere.
Will she be able to trust once again,
or carry permanent baggage and relive that moment when.
Would anyone love her for her unconditional love and affection
or discover her fear and walk the opposite direction
All she wants is for some one to care
and overlook the baggage she carries everywhere
I approach her with caution and with a soft voice I spoke
she watched my hand, while the cookie I broke
Giving her the small pieces just one at a time,
she wagged her tail and she decided she's mine.
I run this rescue and save a life or two,
I decide if she stays with me or goes to you,
So you better be a very special person you see
Our companions will only leave here as a
member of a loving family

Why am I Number One?
I was one of a litter of five
It is actually a miracle that we are still alive
We were born to a boxer so skinny and frail
She was so depressed she didn't wag her tail.
While mamma was tied her owners did neglect
We got bigger and stronger from the food we'd collect
We'd go to all the neighbors and eat their garbage you see
as well as trash their gardens and tear up their laundry
They got so angry they would chase us with sticks
and in some chop meat the poisons they'd mix
or intentionally run us over while they drove fancy cars
We no longer had a safe place to call home, we'd sleep under the stars
But occasionally we had some one who'd really care
they saved up their table scraps and decided they'd share.
They had cute little children and another on the way
They called Cause For Paws and asked them today
Can you help the last 3, for they are sure to die
since we live along the hwy and so many cars speed by
They really are sweet and deserve a good home
Hunter and Emma now have a place of their own
While Emmit is still here he surely does need
a family a bed and some food to eat.
He would love to play with a girl or a boy
and it would be nice to receive an occasional toy
But most of all what he'd really like to be
Is the four legged member of a loving family
Won't you consider giving this fella a well deserved chance
Just look at him cause at first glance
You would think he had a little bit of the devil in him
But the truth is he's sweeter than sugar and without any sin
He wants nothing more than to be your own pet

Hunter Adopted
Emmit Still Waits
What did I do ?
I sit here alone and I'm ready to cry My owners left me here and I can't figure out why
Too scared to move I should really stay Hopefully my owners will come back this way Too loyal to leave I was trained not to run If this is a game it isn't any fun
What if my owners forgot where I am Should I sniff my way home I know that I can Should I find my way home and take that chance When I get there I'll just dig under the fence
I 'll greet them with love as I've always done before But what if they left me because they want me no more What did I do for them to leave me this long I don't remember doing anything wrong
I am only nine months, maybe a year old I don't remember having ever been left out in the cold I don't want my puppies to start their lives like this They should come into the world in the home that I miss
To play with the children that I've played with every day Why am I tied to this tree anyway? I couldn't leave even if I wanted to Why am I here, what did I do?

A dog sits waiting in the cold autumn sun
Too faithful to leave, too frightened to run.
She's been here for days now with nothing to do
But sit by the road, waiting for you.
She can't understand why you left her that day.
She thought you and she were stopping to play.
She's sure you'll come back, and that's why she stays.
How long will she suffer? How many more days?
Her legs have grown weak; her throat parched and dry.
She's sick now from hunger, and falls with a sigh.
She lays down her head and closes her eyes.
I wish you could see how a waiting dog dies.

^ This little girl followed her owner 5 miles, now that's devotion for you
Yet the love the owner had for this pet was so very untrue
Getting into a car for a ride to town on a day so cold
She left this pup along side this busy road
The residents in the area left her food everyday
But she was so afraid that she would run away
We finally sedated her for she had puppies too large to whelp
She would have died if she didn't get our help.
She has since been caught and spayed, an unwanted litter we did abort
So we saved them from being strays in a sort
Now we work to get her to overcome her fear
She has come a long way as now she comes near
This little girl only wants the love that she never got
Thats what rescuing fur babies is all about.

Only 8 weeks old these pups were abandoned at the park
They were rescued after they spent one night in the dark
Priceless in personality they were adopted within 3 days
They made a difference in a life in so many ways
Why leave them defenseless when there is something you can do
Let Cause For Paws place them for you
